Event: Tommy Hilfiger's Promise Collection

Men Trend celebrated along with Tommy Hilfiger his launch of The Promise Collection.
The whole collection is inspired by Africa and 100% of the proceeds of this collection will be donated to Millennium Promise. Men Trend had the chance to go to the exclusive event in the Tommy Hilfiger Flagship store in Antwerp and be the first to check out the collection. It was a lovely cocktail party and we enjoyed African tunes and beautiful clothes! There was a promise tree: you could leave your promise in it or make a wish, so we did! A photo exhibition and a movie that showed Katie Holmes meeting the villagers of Ruhiira told the story behind the collection. Tommy Hilfiger visited Ruhiira in 2010, a village located in Uganda . This trip made him want to do some more, after he already collaborated to create a Promise Collection in 2009. The goal of Hilfiger is to help raise public awareness and halve the poverty by 2015. The promise collection features American design classics reinterpreted with African colors, prints and motives. It is in stores and available online right now! Go and check it out: spread the fashion love to save people from poverty!

Event: ZulupaPUWA

ZulupaPUWA is the name of a collection of JBC (a retailer like GAP) in collaboration with the famous Belgian designer Walter van Beirendonck. They have been working together for 7 years now. You might find it a strange name for a clothing collection, but if we tell you that it’s designed for children, it’s quite cute, right?

 Zulu is a fiction figure who lives on the planet ZulupaPUWA and every year they built up a story around that. This year it’s called “Zulu and the Balloonplanet” and it’s about tolerance. The balloon theme is reflected in the clothes; you can also see a lot of futuristic and ethnical influences. It was all about bright colors and fun prints, van Beirendonck at his best! It’s the first time he designed a beachwear collection; we think he did a very good job!

 The location was really original and spectacular: the zoo of Antwerp! The children were really adorable in their little outfits on the catwalk. They had balloons in their hair and at the end of the show, confetti came down from the ceiling! We had a great time and we would like to congratulate van Beirendonck and JBC for creating once again a great opportunity for parents to have fun with their kids!
